With the Bible being the most popular and most sold book of all time, it is no surprise that the sheer amount of translations and versions play a part in the numbers. As of 2020, the entire Old and New Testaments have been translated into around 700 languages worldwide. In the United States, there are some 450 Bible translations, or “versions” alone. Please note, we are making a fine distinction between the translation into a language and translation into a version within one language. The key focus of this article is not translation to languages, rather specifically the translation of the English translation into different versions.
It is said that there are around 400 different English versions of the Bible in existence today, and that number continues to grow. Without knowing the story or history behind them, many people conclude that they are all the preserved and inspired Word of God. In this article, I will attempt to give as brief as possible, examples of why the King James is the only preserved and inspired Word of God in the English language. If you are looking for many small details and a lengthy explanation, this is not it. Nor is this a complete list of all scripture that has been edited or completely left out by non KJB versions. This is a summery and practical comparison only. As with any information on this topic, please prayerfully consider what you see and read.
To fully grasp the finer details, one needs to distinguish the manuscript sources, mainly the Textus Receptus and Alexandrian. To fully delve into this thoroughly, we have to understand the history of the Roman Catholic Church and it’s use of the Alexandrian texts. Further and prayerful study and research should be done on those, again this is just a summery.
Many Bible verses have been edited or left out completely in modern English versions. Bare in mind that the King James Bible is public domain (Free at no cost) and that there is a percentage of change needed between similar material NOT to be considered a copyright violation.
As you can see, there are distinct differences, and this is not close to a complete list of examples. Please research this yourselves. One of many key scriptures is Colossians 1:14. In many modern translations the Blood of Christ is completely left out. The Blood of Christ is essential to salvation.
King James - Colossians 1:14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:
New International (Per)version - Colossians 1:14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
If something like the Blood of Jesus can be left out, how many other things have been omitted of similar importance from other versions? We leave that to you to prayerfully consider and research. In conclusion, Satan is very crafty and subtle in the methods and ways he uses to throw people off. King James only folks have often gotten a bad rap for their beliefs, but if one truly, honestly and prayerfully investigates these claims, the Holy Spirit will lead them to the truth. It is not about KJB’ers “enjoying” the romantic or “antiquated” writing style of the King James, it’s all about the Power of God moving through it, because it IS the only preserved and inspired Word of God in English, PERIOD.
